Dick Jones, EA Receives ASTPS’s Prestigious
Top Practitioner Award

The American Society of Tax Problem Solvers (ASTPS) is pleased to announce Dick Jones, EA the recipient of the coveted  –

ASTPS Top Practitioner 2007 Award

The ASTPS Top Practitioner Award recognizes distinguished members for their exemplary professional accomplishments, dedication, and contributions to the organization and the profession.

Dick has been in business 22 years doing tax resolution work the entire time and has specialized in this niche for close to 10 years now.

His practice, Wood-Jones and Associates, Inc., is located in Rolla, Missouri and employs 2 staff members.

Before he entered this line of work, he was an office manager for Beneficial Finance for 17 years.

While Dick claims that he did not have a mentor early in his career, he has learned this niche through experience working with clients.

He also has received help from a local IRS Revenue Officer and an Offer Specialist from Columbia, Missouri.

Aside from Tax Problem Resolution work, Dick’s business also focuses on accounting, payrolls, and income tax.

When asked what brought Dick to ASTPS and what keeps him to be an active member, this is what he had to say:
“It is a good organization that keeps you informed about the pulse of the IRS and what the IRS is requiring to solve different situations.  It separates the people that are serious about helping people with tax problems from the people that are advertising their services and don’t have the clients’ best interest at heart.”

Dick enjoys his member benefits by attending Live Seminars, Webinars, and taking advantage of marketing ideas and forms that have been furnished at seminars.

When asked why he would recommend ASTPS to others, this is what he had to say:
“ASTPS separates the cream of the crop from other companies out there that are trying to do tax resolution work.  ASTPS shows you the correct way to do things and that you need to care about helping clients rather than just taking their money and not caring if they help them or not”.

“The Society also keeps you up to date with the pulse of the IRS.  Talking to the seminar presenters and to other practitioners allows you to receive tips to help you better deal with the IRS, your clients, and marketing ideas to help your business better serve the client”.

Dick feels that there are challenges that face tax problem resolution practitioners and ASTPS helps alleviate these challenges.  “The biggest challenges that I see today are trying to get through the IRS maze and stay on top of ever changing procedures that the IRS has,” says Jones.  “ASTPS helps you see what is coming before it gets there, helps you handle the situations that they already have in place.  As far as I am concerned, ASTPS has does a good job of teaching and keeping people up to date and it is the member’s job to put the information into action."

Aside from his practice, Dick has a lovely wife named Camellea and two children, his daughter resides in Dallas, Texas and his son is close to home in St. James, Missouri.  He is also the proud grandparent of three.  He is a member of the Rolla Lions Club and the Oak Meadow Country Club.

He loves watching the St. Louis Cardinals, playing golf, but most of all, traveling with Camellea.  The things he values most in life is religion, his family, and his career.

Throughout his career, Dick has experienced many things.  His most memorable moment was when he decided to concentrate on tax problem work.  He had just placed his first advertisement announcing his new concentration and received his first client owing 1.5 million dollars in back payroll taxes.  He settled his case for $32,000!  That is when he knew he could help people that have tax problems.

Dick says, “I think that every time I am successful at solving a tax problem for a client, it is a defining moment because it makes me feel good to see how relieved and satisfied my clients are because the tax problem is off their back.”

Again, congratulations on your achievement Dick!
